Exit Fees

Our Exit Fees

Our 12 month, fixed tariff agreements have early exit fees of £5 per fuel. That’s £10 if you end a dual fuel agreement early or £5 for ending a single fuel agreement early.

Why do you charge an exit fee?

Exit fees cover the administration cost for interrupting your tariff agreement early. This includes our staff changing things promptly for you, as well as rearranging how we buy our customers’ energy (we buy this for you in advance).

We believe our low exit fee is a fair reflection of the cost involved. Many energy companies charge £30 per fuel as an exit fee!

I want to change my So Energy tariff. Will I be charged exit fees?

Yes. Costs are incurred by ending your contract early and starting a new 12 month agreement. Please contact us if you would like to find out if changing tariffs will save you money.

I am moving home. Will I be charged exit fees?

If you are moving home and would like to take us with you, we must register your new property onto a new 12 month agreement (we cannot move your agreement with you). Because of this, we will not charge exit fees on the final bill for your old property. Find out more in our guide to Moving Home.

I want to switch to a different supplier. Will I be charged exit fees?

We will email you to let you know once you’re in the last 42 days of your agreement. Once you receive this email, you can switch away without any exit fees. If you switch before the last 42 days of your tariff agreement, early exit fees will be added to your final bill.

Will my supplier charge exit fees for switching to So Energy?

If you are in the last 42 days of your contract, you cannot be charged any exit fees. If you are wondering if your current supplier will charge exit fees, we recommend checking the terms of your current energy contract or speaking directly to your energy supplier.
