Where our electricity comes from

All energy companies are required to tell their customers about the mix of fuels they use to generate the electricity and the impact this has on the environment.

The table below shows how we produced electricity from 1 April 2015 to 31 March 2016.

Fuel Electricity Supplied by So Energy Average for the UK (for comparison)
Coal 18.9% 17.0%
Natural gas 32.7% 32.3%
Nuclear 12.9% 23.7%
Renewables 28.3% 24.3%
Other fuels 7.2% 2.5%
Enviromental impact
C02 emissions 331 g/kWh 292 g/kWh
High level radioactive waste 0.0009 g/kWh 0.0017 g/kWh

We keep the figures on this page updated in line with the publishing dates of the Government's fuel mix data disclosure data table, as defined in the Electricity (Fuel Mix Disclosure) Regulations 2005.
