Switching over to us

It only takes a few minutes to get a quote and initiate the switch over to us. After you've completed the online registration form, we'll take it from there. The only other thing we'll need from you is an opening read, which we need 5 days before you're due to come on supply with us but don't worry we'll send an email reminder for this. The whole process from start to finish should only take 21 days.

We’ll keep you updated on what’s happening throughout the process, you can also login to your online account anytime to track how your switch is getting on.

Have you just moved in?
If you've just moved in to a new property and considering switching energy supplier but haven't spoken to your current energy supplier yet, we'd recommend getting in touch with them. If there is an outstanding debt or they don't have enough details on your account, they may delay to your switch over to us. If you're not sure who your current supplier is, get in touch and we'll be able to help.


Timeline

Submit request to switch (Day 0)
Once you’ve registered online, we will email you your Welcome Pack. This contains everything you need to know about your So Energy contract as well as confirming your expected switch date, Direct Debit amount and your first payment date. We'll also setup your online account so you can monitor how your switch is progressing.

We'll contact your current supplier
We’ll tell your current energy supplier and inform them of your request to move over to us.

Gas and electricity follow different industry processes to transfer over supply, so it's not uncommon for them to receive our request to take over your gas and electricity supply at slightly different times.

14-day Cooling-Off
You're completely free to change your mind and cancel your switch without incurring any exit fees at any time up to 14 days after the day you signed up, so please check all the information carefully.

Opening Read request (Day 16)
5 days before your switch date we’ll ask you for your opening meter readings.

Switch complete! (Day 21)
Once we've received your opening meter read, we will pass this on for industry validation (to make sure they're want we would expect). Once this has been done, they'll be sent to your previous supplier so they can generate your final bill. This is your closing read with them should match your opening read with us so you'll never be charged twice for the energy you use. It also means that we’ll start at the right point when working out how much you’ve used with us. That way there’ll be no confusion or nasty surprises on your statements! This shouldnt take more than a couple of weeks to complete.

We’re one of the first suppliers to sign up to the switch guarantee. This guarantee was setup by Energy UK (an trade association for the UK energy industry http://www.energy-uk.org.uk/) to ensure that the energy switching process is as smooth as possible.
